The design for the shop’s inside started with a research of the citadel and the town ramparts to create a setting that evokes one of many predominant components of the wealthy historic heritage of Guimarães. And so, the proportion of the inside areas was organized by structural components product of electro-welded wire mesh, which makes use of the interaction of sure geometric patterns to amplify the shop’s inside area.

The start line is a single aspect: the medieval battlement. This aspect, which tops off the partitions of the town’s ramparts and towers has a clearly recognizable geometric sample, which has been reworked into one thing incorporeal, positioned in a distinct setting, and reinvented in folds of electro-welded mesh product of galvanized metal. Immaterial and permeable, this new battlement is clear, and its wire floor displays gentle, which transforms it into an ethereal aspect, devoid of inert stone. This aspect, thought of in and of itself, is an emblem that additionally serves as a show case with a number of configurations: shoe show, accent show, clothes show or perhaps a mounting for mirrors. It repeatedly seems alongside all the perimeter, offering a steady background perspective for all the inside, like a brand new, nearly digital, rampart inside the shop; a fancy maze of interwoven metallic grids filled with transparencies, glazing, and depths.

As soon as this nice digital rampart has been created and its weight and materials have been erased, it’s stuffed alongside its total size in an uneven method with native granite stone. Twenty-three tons of grey granite, crushed into gravel with particle measurement between thirty and sixty millimeters. When the gravel is added, the rampart serves as gabions that enclose a pseudo-ruin, collapsed partitions that seize a particular fictional second within the historical past of this new rampart.

The entrance counter consists of two giant granite blocks. These had been extracted straight from the quarry, and the big grooves left by the shovels of the excavators have been highlighted. These blocks had been carved manually to reveal the glass and stainless-steel compartment that can maintain the small equipment.
